The Idols South Africa season 17 has been nothing but smile on the faces of Komani qualified singers and residents.

Ringo Madlingozi inspired Komani superstar, Mthetheleli Qoza gave Idols S.A judges run for their money when he sang his heart out to win a golden ticket. Qoza whose stage name is Nesh is a self taught artist who always had the eagerness to show the world what he’s got. Nesh is very well driven as Idols is not the only national music competition he has ever entered for. He entered two times for Clash Of Choirs, mentored by Simphiwe Dana and Bucie respectively.
“How Clash Of Choirs conduct auditions is almost the same as how it’s done on Idols. You first audition for vocal coaches that they hire and then it’s them that decide to put you through to the next stage. That is you then auditioning for the official judges. But because it’s Clash Of Choirs, they select you to a total number of 20. Then that’s when a person will form you up into a group/choir. The auditions were held in East London for team Eastern Cape and then when you make it through, they take care of transportation and accomodation.”
Nesh felt so good being in presence of Simphiwe Dana and Bucie as they are people he saw on the television growing up. He described them as unique which made these two women find a challenge in diversity of personalities of music they had to unify to make one beautiful choir which they did a good job.

Bringing loud laughs and present grins to his community, Nesh becomes the third golden ticket winner contestant whose based in Komani. Nesh is known as the vibrant personality of a person by his peers and some are his gym students in Mlungisi Stadium.
“It’s something I’ve always wanted to do but what really pushed me this year was that after the living conditions we’re facing today with the pandemic, I realised how short life is. Being a golden ticket holder feels absolutely amazing. More especially for me because I’m from the Eastern Cape, so achieving that with the distance I travelled. That did me good.”
Nesh said that there’s a lot that he plans to achieve through his Idols journey and his music journey overall in terms of vocal training and basically getting to find his voice. He also added that he’d really love to work with people from around Komani as the town has a lot of potential.
