Edward Cameron Peverett and his team have created a needed platform for Komani’s creatives that has been long time needed.

The African Renaissance Community (ARC) was introduced to Komani’s creatives on 16 June 2023, a day nationally recognised as Youth Day in commemoration of Soweto Uprising. The ARC’s directors, Edward Cameron Peverett, Hlakanipho Rylee Sakwe and Zizo Zoe Gqadushe hosted their introductory event at Mlungisi Stadium in Youth Day, sponsored by Twizza, where there were live performances and a debate held in a motion: “Does the youth of today honour June 16?” A month later, the ARC announced that it would host jam sessions at Arts Centre, which its debut event was postponed because the centre wasn’t conducive to be used at the time. Finally, they commenced and to this day, they have hosted six jam sessions every Sunday at Arts Centre, with last week’s Sunday as an exception since it was taken as a breather, to also give a way to the incoming Heritage Day event that’s pending for the ARC. Enjoy jam sessions hosted by the ARC every Sunday at Arts Centre from 1 PM to 5 PM.

The ARC’s founder & managing director in strategy, ideation, recruitment, operations and artist management, Edward Cameron Peverett, director in art & culture, jam sessions, event coordination and artist engagement, Hlakanipho Rylee Sakwe and director in human capacity, coaching, company secretary and policy, Zizo Zoe Gqadushe are the three individuals who have availed Komani creatives an intimate space to share their creativity amongst each other.
