Enali Qhina made the Kwa-Komani Technical School community proud earlier this year when he came third academically in the Chris Hani West District as one of the matric 2021 top achievers.

Enali Qhina became the talk of the town when he achieved the unthinkable and gave Kwa-Komani Technical School a green light after being the best top achiever the school has yet seen, as far as I’m concerned. Enali scooped six distinctions, receiving 98% for Physical Sciences, 97% for Mathematics, 96% for Life Sciences, 92% for Geography, 84% for isiXhosa, 80% for English, and 74% for Life Orientation, respectively (source: The Rep). In March, he had the privilege of being featured in a case study of a Xhosa term 1’s question paper.

Enali is a Medicine student at the University of Cape Town, and since the publication of his matric results, he gained celebrity status in his hometown. He said that a lot of people hit him up in person and on social platforms asking him for tips, and that’s when he learnt of his familiarity. Some would ask his friends about him or greet him in the streets. I bet everyone is keen to know if a genius ever has time to entertain girls.
With me it depends on certain gateways of attraction, a hun doesn’t necessarily need to be intelligent but smart enough to make constructive life choices. When it comes to my academics the world definitely stops cause I have this motto in my life that huns don’t run out, they’ll always be there but some academic opportunities are once in a lifetime and if you miss them you’d have to earn them even harder. In a nutshell, I always balance between the two but if my books require more attention I give them cause sometimes it can be tshai.
No genius doesn’t free his mind every now and then, and as much as Enali is preoccupied with school work, he has stuff he does on his leisure time. His hobbies are taking a walk, playing video games, singing in his room, and engaging on social media. A change of scenery can be scary as most university students have highlighted over the past years and it doesn’t get any different with Enali.
There’s a vast difference, so as a person who started Uni right straight after high school i can say it’s really hard to adjust and adapt to the environment because I never knew what to expect, well I do, I think I did actually but I didn’t it was just a fairy tale of an illusion. Unlike in high school in Uni you’re treated as an adult, therefore are expected to act as one. How you spend your time and channel your energy towards depends on you but some of your actions may be consequential.
Enali added that in high school, one could be inconsistent with their school work and pass, which is never the case in varsity. He also raised a point of plagiarism that isn’t applicable in high school and has contributed to high school assignments containing 50-80% plagiarism that are not accounted for.
