DJ Avee comes back to deejaying after close to a decade break.

Aviwe Dano, whose stage is DJ Avee, unpacks his sudden back to the music industry after a fair decade. On Thursday, he announced that he’s making his comeback with a Nobuzwe poster, where he’s booked for 10 September 2022. Having reached out to him, he confirmed that he’s played at Mzoxolo tavern already now that he’s back.
Avee is widely recognised for his fashion sense. For those of you who have never heard him on the decks, he used to play Gqom. Post-2010, Gqom was in its emerging years in the country, and I guess we needed time to be distracted from the shame that came with the world cup, hence Distruction Boyz. He opened up about how he’s been a follower of Amapiano since its infant days, which allows him to easily tap into its widest market. As a Hip Hop huge fan, he added that he will always be part of the culture, although he’s versatile in the consumption of music.
Avee will soon be featured in music production around Komani, with DJ Athi and other residential DJs. He recently became a father to a baby boy, Sikhanyis Junior, and says that he sees the world differently, all of a sudden. He grew up under a stepfather’s hand and wishes to redirect history, and as grateful as he is for the man who raised him he wants to be present in his son’s life as a biological father. He concluded that YOLO Lounge is the spot he wishes to play at once he has found his feet in deejaying, in the meantime, the places he’s playing at are about sharpening his skill.
