FRANCE ON THE RISE

Kamvalethu Waka who is popularly known as France has made such an impressive mark with creating a photography company, Francé and managing the then Yoza’s Finest dance crew, Khweza’s Finest.

France shook everyone when he displayed his photography skills to the public. People were still used and enjoying his brilliance with words and thread stories. He said that being a photographer was something he dreamt of doing because he saw how much he enjoyed taking pictures with his cellphone. The love for photography increased France’s curiosity towards learning about the industry. His obsession for photography grew and there was no denial that he was hooked with his dreams. He planned to raise money to buy himself a camera and the only person he told was his mother. “I was planning to buy a camera and told my mom that I’d buy one when I have money. Surprisingly, she bought one for me without my knowledge.” he said. It took him 24 hours to learn how to use his camera which was bought last year by his mother. “I spent hours taking pictures of friends and family.” he said. He did thorough research to improve quality of his pictures. His local inspirations and people he aspire to be are Ntsikelelo of Bles-Visuals and Olwethu Maplanka of Photo Scamto.

France, like everyone who is a new face in the game has received a lot of criticism. It has gotten worse with him. Some of his family members showed him a huge middle finger when he needed their support most. He had to cut some of them to protect his peace so that he runs his business smoothly. These negative comments were not only from his family but the public. Comments like, “France is shooting shitty pictures.”, “He will get nowhere with this photography thing of his.” but France hasn’t been the type to devour any form of negativity. He takes negativity as motivation and always told himself that, “When you are the greatest, so called enemies will try by all means to bring you down and to break your spirit. But when they see that they are failing in doing so, they bow down to you.”.

Khweza’s Finest

France’s photography company, Francé had a partnership with Khweza’s Finest which was founded by Yokhela Yoza. France is the dance crew’s current manager. When he was asked about the state of the crew, he said that Khweza’s Finest is not dead. It is just that most members are high school learners, so there’s no much time for practice. As the crew, they arrange meet ups to do videos that are shot and posted on dance crew’s Facebook page and WhatsApp group. The next big thing for Khweza’s Finest is development of a strategy of attracting more fans and performing for larger audience.
