The two times Queen title holder in pageantry, Salathiso Tyali grew with beauty contests to a stage of entering them beyond her beauty.

Started contesting at the age of 7, the passion grew in her. She only from then competed in the school’s beauty pageants. Her first pageantry entry outside of school was in Miss Ndlovukazi which she won. Miss Ndlovukazi is also the first pageant that made Tyali understand that there’s more than just beauty in pageants. Her reign didn’t stop as she recently became a Queen in Mr & Miss Ngqamakwe. Tyali believes that winning a pageant now that it’s no longer specifically based on one’s appearance, is about what mark she wants to leave and what change she’s trying to bring to the community.

Tyali was fully representating Ndi Nje clothing brand in 2020 which led to such a messy departure. Apparently, Luve Ngqeme, the clothing brand’s owner approached Tyali work with him and did some photoshoots. Which Tyali was down for because she’s fond of modelling. With Tyali’s represantation, the brand made great sales although Tyali demanded no credit. The issue came when Ngqeme allegedly made her his pet, that could make time for him whenever he says jump. The unprofessionalism from Ngqeme led to Tyali not attending some of the photoshoots. On one instance, Tyali decided to tell Ngqeme that she’s no longer interested.

“The owner of the brand is Luve Ngqeme, I met him through social media. He took my numbers and approached me. I didn’t want any credit for that because I thought I was just helping out the owner and it’s also something that I’ve wanted to do. Then I did my first shoot on 23 June 2020 at Prince Whyte’s studio and the shoot went well. As time goes on I noticed that he’s not respecting me because he would organise shoots on a short notice as if he owns me or I don’t have other things to do. I seriously hated that and I started being absent on other shoots for a while. Maybe he also started noticing that I’m longer advertising his brand because of him. He was just not appreciating my time and effort.”
Although Ndi Nje might have been a good riddance to Tyali, she regretted the opportunities she missed while keeping the brand on board. She said that she was extremely hurt for not accepting those offers while she could. She also added that she will apologise to those owners. Following the bad experience she had with Ndi Nje, she’s not entirely up to work with a brand that’s generating greater sales other than mutual understanding. The mutual understanding is stemmed from not only the brand owner benefits on her promo work but she also gets to have nice pictures. As much as Tyali enjoys modelling, entrepreneurship is her first priority when it comes to her rational decision making when it comes to occupation. She wants to be a businesswoman and bring change to her community. In her passion of work, Jae_snaps has been one of the brands she helped grow.
