The last borns of their parents who are always the first to shine in the world.

Born and bred in a rural area, Mkhonjana, that’s near Confimvaba, Andisiwe and Lusenathi are the last borns of both parents. They grew up in a big family that prioritized farming, their father to be specific. Their father was a lover of Xhosa written books and radio listening, and the passion was passed to them. They discovered new love out of these two aspects their father introduced them to. The new love was writing poetry and love stories as a collective. This love for poetry and writing was born in 2014, and they referenced Vukani FM language literacy shows to sharpen their craft. When they were enrolled in Mount Arthur Girls High School in 2018, Andisiwe was selected to represent the school on public oral reading about Mr. S.E.K Mqhayi. The public oral reading left Professor Ncedile Saule star-struck by Vinqi’s writing skills. In the same year, Lusenathi was the school’s top achiever and prefect for grade 10. The two did the undisputed in 2019 when they both entered a Xhosa language competition, that paid tribute to legends of the native language in its literature. Both of the twins were tasked to recite a poem they have written about Sipho Mangidi Burns Ncamashe. Sipho Mangindi Burns-Ncamashe Aa! Zilimbola! (1920–1996) was a South African poet, short story writer, and Xhosa imbongi (praise poet). He was also the chief of the AmaGwali Xhosa sub-group in Alice to mention a few about him. In the competition, they proceeded to the provincial level that was held in East London. They won the competition where they became provincial champions.

The reign of the twins was not stopping any soon as they won a poetry competition in Umhlobo Wenene FM for their “Umhlobo Wenene” poem last year. They had the privilege of narrating their journey on Umhlobo Wenene FM’s show, iScamto. Lusenathi passed her matric with admission to a bachelor’s degree after matriculating last year and Andisiwe is doing her matric this year.
