His growing influence can be confiscated from Pioneers Of Hope gained traction. Pioneers Of Hope is a non-profit organisation that had its peak in 2019, addressing specifically mental health. Under the organisation, Lingela had helped his neighbourhood with mental health assistance, soup kitchens, clothes distribution, pad drive, and young boy’s lectures to mention the basics. For the longest time, Lingela had been told to run for the ward councillor position and finally took a leap of faith.

The reason I decided to contest on these elections, it’s simply because I’m tired. Tired of complaining while doing nothing, tired of corruption, tired of having politicians that do not wanna account. The Independents is not a political party. We are not politicians, but a group of people that want change. We want ethical leadership, and good governance. So we are in this for people, not us!! So since I’ve been doing the same role in charity, why not go out there and make a change?

The Independents group that Lingela is under is a group formed by Twizza’s founder, Ken Clark. Ken Clark called upon the formation of The Independents as a business owner that is tired of the dirty town Komani turned to be in presence of current leaders and is bad for business. Clark is also running for the mayoral candidacy that has sparked controversy on social media because of his race.

We can’t always play the race card, and what we dealing with now is surely worse than apartheid. There is no service delivery, and corruption is the only thing they are serving.

A few days ago, Lingela reassured his followers that should he win the elections, he will work with what he has for the betterment of the community. He concluded that the current ward councillor he’s contesting for its vacancy did his best, and he supported him throughout. He wishes for the person who is going to be the victor to prioritise people.
