Milisa Njoli (19) is a Komani-based digital content creator and runaway model that has recently moved to Cape Town, as highlighted on her Facebook profile. She is turning 19 years old today and I will unpack the influence she’d had and continues to have as a public figure.

Milisa always been fond of beauty and aesthetic at the young age. She lived in a world that conditioned girl children who loved beauty and aesthetic to fall under pageantry modelling. Milisa being the kind that from a young age didn’t subscribe to the societal standards, after competing in pageantry modelling show once at church she swore to never partake in such uncomfortable experience. She’s not a friend of centre of attention but she loves clothes and fashion. One way or another, it was destined for her to be one of the brightest stars should she take part in the fashion industry. She isn’t a girl of many words but beautiful pictures, yes fam.

Milisa fortunately, or unfortunately entered the gates of fashion industry in a very intense, and political era. She did what she ever loved doing with a label that would with or without her consent be put on top of her head and have to run with it. Colourism is a critical affair in fashion, and although time have shifted to black skinned people finally getting their recognition, it’s internally never been easy. With Milisa generating over 43.4K followers on Facebook and over 11.2K on Instagram, she’s representing black girls in a large community. She unapologetically showing skin on her content and that’s what had sold her content because it gave birth to originality that didn’t seek to hide it rawness.

Milisa is turning 19 years old today and I say enjoy it to the fullest. She has contributed a lot towards how black girls are to be viewed and that’s includes the class she delivers her content with.
