CASHING IS THE NEXT BIG THING

Cashing is an outcast in his family for doing music, and one would guess it’s what keeps this 17-year-old boy going this hard.

Cashing, whose real name is Unathi Mbebe, is a Lady Frere-bred rising star, who lives in a matriarchal household. He was raised by his mother and grandmother, and his old-found love for music started when he was 8. At 14, he was already rapping Eminem verses out of passion.

I was doing grade 4 in Jackson Primary School. There was a music competition I entered and started rapping my verses where I came out number 1. That’s when I started taking this music thing serious.

Two years ago, he took a leap of faith and started recording music with Psych NT. One of the songs they recorded is Ass Like That, which Cashing says had good reception and reviews from abroad. His grandmother passed on last year in July.

My granny used to give me money to attend shows even though my uncle didn’t like it, but she passed away on 9 July 2021.

This became a turning point for Cashing, but his mother became his shoulder to cry on. His mother bought him studio equipment he’s using right now and buys him data to keep up with the ins and outs of the music industry. She also markets her son to her friends and the community at large. He released his biggest song, Scripted Writing in 2021 and released four singles after. He hasn’t put out a project yet but it’s not a far-fetched idea.

Scripted Writing was recorded three days after my granny was buried. I called my homie Psych NT and I told him I got new studio equipment and we were scrolling on my PC looking for beats. We found the beat, started writing, nad then we recorded. The name of the song came out after recording the verses. I announced the drop of the song then gave it a couple of weeks and I checked the streams. They were looking good and I gained few US followers and got a text on IG from a USA Rockstar Sunset Capone. I had an idea of mixing hip hop and Rock then I featured him on my unreleased mixtape “Straight Outta 5410”

As I had already stated, a project is not a far-fetched idea. But will he try to get Leo Brown and Jimmy Backwoods to be one of the features since they are both his dream features? The undisclosed release date holds the answer.
