On the 17th of August 2021, eNCA revealed that over 20,000 teenagers are pregnant in the Gauteng province. The stats included minors as young as 10 & 12 years old. Teenage pregnancy is sure not a foreign thing in the country, but the stats revealed how statutory rape rates are skyrocketing. The conversation about such minors being pregnant has been had ever since stats were out and people are analyzing the factors resulting in such. While in this case of children being manipulated every day in the country, it didn’t stop anyone from concluding this matter based on their personal experiences. War on the socials was had when some people said that these 10-year-olds should have acted otherwise towards the persons that impregnate them. The other party debated that such minors are in no position to consent as they don’t even know what’s being done in the first place. This war is the same that had Ratele in hot waters after siding with the bad side of the conversation. Ratele justified these minors’ pregnancy by asking why they open legs for perpetrators in the first place. Insults were thrown by those anti her opinion, to an extent of her deleting her post. Fun was had by fellow Facebookers that mocked Ratele beyond her supposedly insensitive post. There was a personal attack and Ratele’s boyfriend, Zukhanye Rencho was in it to play in her defense. He said that it rather be him in Ratele’s position so that all that’s said about her to be said about him. Rencho’s post brought much controversy where others find amusement in his post and others labeling him to be supporting a rape apologist.

The hate they had to display when she was down, according to her deleted post. In her defense, Ratele said that she thought that the 10-year-olds that were talked about were 10-year-olds who were dating. She sent her sincere apologies, especially to the rape victims that were triggered by her post. For unknown reasons, she sooner deleted the post. Facebookers in the likes of Migcobo Zazini demanded her to be canceled.
