A town that was a place of unattraction will turn a new leaf after Simamkele and Simon’s hard work.

The two gentlemen, Simamkele Lima Maholwana-Vanqa and Simon Mphela, in the above picture, have united over Maholwana-Vanqa’s idea of cleaning Komani. Hygiene has been the problem in the town ever since the indebted Enoch Mgijima Municipality couldn’t collect enough refuge because of a shortage of trucks. Maholwana-Vanqa commented when I contacted him:
“We grew tired of watching our town turn into dump sites, so we decided to do something about it. How it works is, we firstly identify a highly polluted area and we just clean up. We’re cleaning up only because we love our town and want to see it improve.”
The goal these two gentlemen have had, they have been achieving since they brought the likes of WG MICA, Sean Russell, Shaun Petzer, and Miss Pillay from N.S Pillay. Their movement has been well received by corporates. They are doing this voluntarily. Unfortunately, I didn’t get a response from them about the assistance they have been getting from the big companies in town. All they need is support from the town’s residents to keep the town clean.
