Milisa Njoli is known for her outstanding beauty and appealing digital content. Njoli has set her foot in the clothing brand industry, and the scene will never be the same.

Njoli has swiftly started her journey as early as a server for her church. At a tender age, she competed with other servers in a beauty contest that remains as of the most uncomfortable moments of her childhood.

I didn’t enjoy it because I had to smile and stuff like that. I’ve always wanted to be a model, yes but not a pageantry model. I aspired to be a runaway model, so from that experience I realised that I’m not into beauty pageants but rather fashion shows and runaways.

The attention that had to be all on her is one of the things Njoli hated about pageantry compared to runaways, where the attention is on what you are wearing. Njoli also highlighted the techniques of these two different streams, where pageantry modeling is training for one to charm and fascinate the crowd and the judges in their favor. In the case of runaways, models compete to work with designers. In the pageantry model, models compete for a title, which Njoli is not up for it.

It hasn’t been easy considering the fact that light skinned girls were praised and given the spotlight. People talking about “lightskinned girls are more prettier than darkskinned”, however I got past that because I know who I am, I know I am beautiful and unique. So I’ve learned to love myself the way I was created and embrace that and I wouldn’t change my skin tone for anything. I feel like now there are equal opportunities now because my brown skinned girls are constantly embracing their tone and get equal attention from the society whereas in the past the focus was on lightskinned because they were considered as ‘more attractive’.

Njoli was approached by Qhawe Nguna, Komoney’s founder and CEO. Nguna wanted to work with Njoli as a brand ambassador. This is Njoli’s first brand ambassador work. She is not yet open to working with other brands. Her focus is solely on growing Komani to greater heights than she arrived at.
